Jennifer Bandier Opens Her First LA Flagship After Raising $35 Million
Jennifer Bandier started her career in music, building her own management company and later a successful tech startup. Her career took a major turn after she suffered from a major foot injury. Bandier came up with the idea for a multi-brand activewear store as she noticed a lack of such shops within walking distance—none of which carried the sort of elevated fitness apparel she was searching for.
She opened the first Bandier brick-and-mortar in South Hampton the following summer of 2014: a boutique offering highly curated designer performance brands, an intimate shopping atmosphere, and a killer playlist. A successful summer of Kardashian-attended cocktail hours at the shop led to a Manhattan pop-up, and the brand took off from there, carrying powerhouse brands like Nike and Stella McCartney alongside niche (and often female-founded) startup brands she found on the web. Bandier later added the fitness studio Studio B as a way to foster a community around her shop. While the brand only one store location in Southampton, NY- today the company is headquartered in New York, NY with five store locations in New York and Texas and now their first West Coast flagship in Los Angeles. “I started in the music business so having a 3 story flagship in a prime location in West Hollywood is beyond what I could have ever anticipated. When I first started Bandier everyone told me this was the dumbest idea so to see everyone actually enjoying the space means everything. Being in Los Angeles, which is the mecca of wellness, feels very much a part of our brand identity. We hope to build a feel-good community,” shared Bandier around her first West Coast location.
The expansion of Bandier comes after their nearly $35 million raise backed by Eurazeo Brands. In addition to two new flagships, Bandier hired Adrienne Lazarus, former CEO of Fyre and President of Intermix, as their new CEO. Bandier’s new West Coast flagship is a massive 8,800 square foot three-story fashion and wellness playground. “Our vision for Bandier is to be the premier multi-channel platform for an active woman who loves fashion, fitness, and wellness,” said Bandier.
Beyond the curation of elevated active fashion, customers can enjoy workouts at Studio B, coffee from Coffee Dose cafe and CBD products from Dosist. The opening celebration was co-hosted by Molly Sims who has been a long time fan of the brand. “I have loved Bandier since their first store in South Hampton. I knew they were going to be big when I could go to one place to mix and match my favorite workout pieces,” exclaimed Sims.
Bandier is continuing to stick to her philosophy of investing and lifting up other women with continuous collaborations with other female entrepreneurs such as Veronica Beard. The Los Angeles flagship follows the opening of the New York flagship and their retail stores in Texas.
