Chloe x Halle Are Just As Much Into the Yeehaw Agenda As We Are
Last night, Diane von Furstenburg invited hundreds of game-changing women to the 10th annual DVF Awards where she honored 5 women including professor Anita Hill, who took home the DVF Lifetime Leadership Award, Katy Perry, Susan Burton, Nadia Murad, and Hadeel Mustafa Anabtawi. The room was filled with phenomenal women from all generations, Katy Perry couldn’t help but notice the energy saying “the goddess energy in [the] room is undeniable.”
Chloe and Halle performed 3 of their songs at the event. Furstenburg told Teen Vogue that she picked them to perform for the event because they are “so cute and irresistible” and a “powerhouse duo.” Chloe and Halle wore not matching, complementary DVF outfits on the carpet, as they always do. “We complement each other so well, but we are completely different individuals,” Halle says.
We asked the Atlanta natives who have worn cowboy hats and boots on the red carpet about the current Yeehaw Agenda movement and the history of black cowboys and girls, which they are loving. “We even love Lil Nas X and how Solange brought the cute cowgirl movement,” Chloe says. “I’m just proud because it’s just another way that black people are showing how awesome they are and I love that.” So it’s official, they are into the Yeehaw Agenda just like us.
Their new song “Be Yourself” also premieres in the movie Little starring Teen Vogue cover star Marsai Martin and out this weekend. “[It’s a] female national anthem of a woman taking her power back,” Halle says. We agree with Furstenburg about the two being a “powerhouse duo,” as they are certainly pioneering another generation of powerful women.
